Hormone Optimization Needs Guardrails, Not Enthusiasm

May 19, 2026 · 8 min read

Hormone replacement is one of the most-requested and most-oversold services in this field. Both things are true: for a symptomatic patient with confirmed deficiency it can meaningfully improve energy, sleep, mood, body composition, and sexual health — and for a patient without deficiency it mostly adds risk.

Our guardrails are simple. Confirm the deficiency with repeat testing under standardized conditions. Document symptoms independently of labs. Screen for contraindications. Start at conservative dosing. Re-test on a fixed schedule and be willing to stop.

We also discuss what hormones cannot do. They do not replace resistance training, protein intake, or sleep, and a plan that leans on a prescription while ignoring those inputs will underdeliver.
