Choosing a longevity physician

Longevity practice covers a wide range, from careful preventive medicine to supplement retail. The difference shows up in the workup.

What a genuine workup addresses

Cardiometabolic risk, blood pressure, lipids, glucose regulation, sleep quality, strength and functional capacity, mental health, age-appropriate cancer screening, and vaccination status. These are unglamorous and they carry most of the measurable benefit.

Where hormones and peptides fit

Hormone therapy has defined diagnostic criteria and monitoring requirements. Peptides sit further out on the evidence curve. Neither belongs at the front of a longevity program that has not addressed the fundamentals.

Signals worth noticing

Every visit ending in a product sale, panels ordered without an explanation of what will change based on the result, and programs sold as a subscription before a diagnosis exists.

Questions people ask about this

Are longevity clinics evidence based?
It varies widely between practices. The strongest components are conventional preventive medicine; the weakest are compounds marketed ahead of their evidence.
Do I need an advanced biological-age test?
These tests are not standardised and do not have established clinical decision thresholds. Ask what would change in your plan based on the result before paying for one.
